Job Title: Data Engineer (Multiple Openings)

Location: Reston, VA (Telecommuting permitted; must be willing to travel/relocate to unanticipated locations throughout the U.S. on short notice for extended periods)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and create stored procedures, advanced queries, triggers, views, indices, and functions for databases.
  • Analyze current database environments to recommend maintenance and security enhancements.
  • Monitor database systems to ensure secure services with minimal downtime.
  • Design, develop, and maintain databases using Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MSSQL.
  • Troubleshoot database issues to enhance performance and optimize efficiency.
  • Develop monitoring scripts to ensure data pipeline reliability and accuracy.
  • Configure GitHub for efficient release pipelines, enabling smooth version control and deployment processes.
  • Collaborate with application development and technical teams to implement environment changes.
  • Participate in agile/scrum activities, including daily stand-ups, to support project development.

Tools and Technologies:

PostgreSQL, Cassandra, Oracle, MSSQL, GitHub, XLR, Oracle Toad, Putty, SSMS, Grafana, Enterprise Manager, Dynatrace, JavaScript, AngularJS, NodeJS, HTML.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Master’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related field.
    • Alternative: Bachelor’s degree plus five (5) years of progressive post-baccalaureate experience in a related field.
  • Two (2) years of experience in the following:
    • Designing, developing, and maintaining databases with Oracle, PostgreSQL, and MSSQL
    • Developing monitoring scripts for data pipeline reliability and accuracy
    • Using SSMS, Putty, Grafana, Enterprise Manager, GitHub, Scrum methodology
    • Working with Cassandra, Dynatrace, JavaScript, AngularJS, NodeJS, and HTML
